# Create Project

Create a new directory anywhere you’d like for this project:

```bash theme={null}
mkdir kafka-go-getting-started && cd kafka-go-getting-started
```

Initialize the Go module and download the Confluent Go Kafka dependency:

```bash theme={null}
go mod init kafka-go-getting-started
go get github.com/confluentinc/confluent-kafka-go/v2/kafka
```
